The disk bears an engraved inscription: VOTE: PUBLIC. It has a perforated central axis and was used as a condemnation vote. Similar votes with solid central axis served as acquittals. The juror held the axis between the fingers to ensure the secrecy of the ballot. Votes were collected in a special ballot box before the counting.
