Next to the naked kouroi of the archaic sculpture appear the korai, dressed in colorful garments and adorned with elaborate jewels. Characteristic is the example of the statue of Phrasikleia. The young girl, who departed this life early, stands still, a smile on her face. "I will be called a kore (maiden) forever, since the gods gave me this name instead of marriage," is what we read in the epigram engraved on the front side of the statue’s base.
